2016. July

Brr...it's truly Winter now and I have the heater consistently on and off, there I am trying to conserve energy but then the cool air hits my body, legs and my feet, till I find those nice slipper knitted socks the heater is the intermittent solution. Can't believe it's been so long since I've posted her on my blog and its been over half a year!

Winter is here... time to stock up on vitamin C tablets, get your favourite quilted knee and leather ankle boots... put on that snugly woolen scarf, heatech top with a sweater layered on top and trek to the shops, a warm cafe to catch up with friends or a pokemon adventure - but please mind your step and where you venture.

TVB TV fix Wrap of 2016 Must watch

  • Presume Accidents - 8/10- Immortal human, love hate relationships, dedicated loyalty, super powers, unconditional love, unexpected twist, turns and stories, depth behind characters and the reason the way they are doing what they do, friendships, this show has it all if you like a bit of scifi in the modern themed story. Featuring Lawrence Ng and Sisley Choi.
  • Veins  7.5/10- starring Kevin Cheng, Grace Chan and Kaye Tse ( her first debut performance as an actress). A more new lineup of casts, Kevin is cool and collected in this film - air of confidence and being fearless and know it all, don't want to spoilt it but he has some super powers you will need to find out about! Kaye is sweet and always loving to her friends and family. Great effort given it is her first performance, she just emits elegance in the way she talks and dresses. As the title suggest its about vampires - so it really depends if you are into this supernatural type of story. The song features two great songs - if not for the story - these two songs will keep you hooked onto the series.
  • Over Run Over 9.5/10 - This is by far my favourite series, you need to patient however. Past the first five episodes then the good story line and unfolding of the story really begins! If you like action, romance, time travel, supernatural themes and humour this series is for you. Think of Ground Hog day meets Edge of Tomorrow!
Movie Fix

  • Star Wars - 7/10 - Everything you expect from a sequel but not overwhelming but nothing too outstanding, if they had removed some of the cheesy lines it would of been better, didn't feel enough  chemistry between the lead actor and actress. BB8 gave it brownie points for sure! Don't forget to check out the Google Storm Trooper saber game, that works with your phone as a saber light that is really awesome!
  • Batman vs Superman 7/10 - Something didn't up stack up there, it was too much of your typical superhero movie, lacked depth, and the characters were too dark.
  • Captain America - 8/10 - strong story line, star studded cast, humour, action, lots of cameo characters, spiderman pops in too, what more can you ask for? and Arrow Man?
  • Jungle Book - 7.5/10 - Great graphics, good music, good adaptation, bit dark for children however. It doesn't have the 'Disney' in it.
  • Alice through the Looking Glass - 8/10 - I love a bit of the parallel world, fantasy characters, time travel and all that in between :) Makes you really think after the movie - and the theme of it is TIME.
  • X-Men - must see list - about hypnotism, team work, and speedy guy character
  • Independence Day 2 - must see list
  • Secret Life of Pets - I have been longing to see this for so long now... waiting waiting... for it to be in Australia in September.
Quick Fast Food Fix

  • Crispy Cluckers $14 - spicy sauce, side of salad, chicken salt (optional) fresh chips, boneless chicken AND a bottle of water or softdrink can
  • Daruma bento box Karage $8.80 - Delicious fresh plus miso soup - their agadeshi tofu is top notch.
  • Ajisen Ramen takoyaki $6 - if you go at the right time and its served hot, their takoyaki is piping hot and textured.
  • Makoto hand rolls
  • T- Noodles $10.80 NEW store - Braised beef noodles and pig intenstine spicy noodles, their noodles are comparable to that of DTF (Ding Tai Fung) style!

Pokemon How to get free pokeballs quick!

POKEMON GO HINTS TIPS AND FREE POKEBALLS

Pokemon Go, go go catch em' all, yes guys and girls you heard right that is the latest craze and Nintendo suddenly has bumped up its value to 9 Billion dollars! I thought my eyes played tricks on me as I past fellow strangers on the streets with phones in their flicking wildly. One girl went on to flip all the way through, gliding a motion that was fit to wave a taxi down. Her boyfriend on her side, just waited their patiently as she captured her new Pokemon near Market City. Yes I admit. I have also downloaded this game, curious to what this new sudden craze was all about.

To my disbelief, my visit to Cool Yule at Darling Harbour turned into a trek and pokemon capturing haven. There near the Darling Park area, was a Mr. Men and Little Miss exhibition.

Fine, so that is cool - new interpretation of the classic, but was strange about that scene was that there sitting around the exhibition, oblivious to the artwork, were couples, solos and friends flipping their phones with sound effects or simply sitting there waiting for something happen. Yep, this was 8:00pm after I had dinner after a productive but long day at work. I thought.

So curious to what the fuss was about, I switched on my Pokemon Go and figured there was a total of three main hubs situated in this area! So Pokemon Trainers... you need to be here - to get the likes of 'Slowpoke', 'Oddish', Eevee amongst others. So I took my turn capturing my pokemon and realised I ran out of pokeballs!

There was always a reasoning to this gamification to make you want to continue and play more... so you have the option to SHOP and buy more pokeballs, powerups for your pokemon characters and lure potions.

Never fear though please see the tips below I wish I knew earlier:

-Before you capture a pokemon in sight - especially those who appear a lot - the bat, goldfish remember you have a limited amount of 50 pokeballs to start with

When pokemon appear 'wild' pokemon, check the CP they possess before deciding to capture them with this in mind, of course if you just like the pokemon capture it for it to be part of your pokedex :)

- Pokemon nearby are indicated via 'growing' cherry blossom like leaf formations and also vibrating of your phone (turn a 360 in case they are hiding behind some pokestops).

- How to get free pokeballs? Okay so you ran out of pokeballs, all is well. Just get to a pokestop, and spin yes spin using a flick of your finger on the pokestop till it turns purple and tap to collect all the free pokeballs/potions that may appear (it is different at each stop).

- To go to Pokemon training and battles you need to be near there to access the place indicated by those 'towers'. Alot of these are actual train stations.

- Egg incubators - use your items to incubate pokemons that get activated once you reach a walking goal - 2km (3 use) or 5km (unlimited)

- You will need to go and choose a team to be part of once you reach Level 5 - Blue, Yellow or Red.

Hint: also be mindful you have limited space in your backpack to carry pokeballs so pick and choose based on CP and characters you want :).
Now where is that Pikachu... some little birdy said it is in Haymarket, Chinatown near Market City...

Pikachu alternatively can also be a 'starter' pokemon if you ignore Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbusaur when they appear in abundance when you first play, you should be able to see Pikachu after about five attempts, persevere, go catch'em all pokemon trainer!

Song of the week - Easy come, easy go

Alice on the Roof - Easy Come Easy Go

My chest is getting tight
I've got nothing to hide
I take it all on board
I've gotta crack the code

Everything coincides
Heavy are these skies
I wanna make a vow
To make this right somehow

It's killing you inside
Fighting against the tide
I'm sinking like a stone
Easy come easy go

I give you thy hand
A fool could tell you that
Been hiding on below
Easy come easy go

Footprints in the snow
I follow where you go
In my mind I've made a plan
In my mind I understand

Take me back to the start
To mend a broken heart
To see what I've become
To right the wrongs I've done

It's healing in your eyes
The look that trace a line
I didn't even know
I didn't even know

It's killing you inside
Fighting against the tide
I'm sinking like a stone
Easy come easy go

It's killing you inside
Fighting against the tide
I didn't even know
I didn't even know

I give you thy hand
A fool could tell you that
Been hiding on below
Easy come easy go
