K-POP Festival in Sydney 2011

2011 K-POP Musical Festival in Sydney was surreal! Got into the mood the day before, replaying the MVs on Youtube, playing their various albums and pre-empting what songs they would play on the night in preparation of the fantastic concert! I had to wear my Girls Generation '7' tshirt from SPAO direct from Korea to celebrate along with my B2ST wrist band!

A cloudy day turned into a fine, breezy day by 7pm, the sun was still out...reaching sunset, a beautiful picturesque scenic sky as the concert kicked off.

Sitting comfortably in our chairs awaiting the artists or should I say international stars, it was a surreal feeling as it kicked off with the 3:00 minute countdown! MCs included Girls Generation superstars... in beautiful maxi dresses. I loved how they presented in both fluent English and Korean, to acknowledge some speakers were not Korean but could enjoy the concert just as much.

Pre-event entertainment was quite impressive- tents set up by Hyundia included pop-up racing gaming with usb key prizes, a queue to take a picture of life size cut-outs of the star studded concert and more. Should I mention Nong Shim stand gave out cup noodles but the highlight was the Nong-Shim mascot! I've had many Nong-shim cup noodles before, have a Nong-shim mini cup pen but a photo with the mascot too awesome :)! There was also the LG stand, Korea Tourism stand and more...not to forget many dedicated fans with all the banners. SBS PopAsia hosted the stage with DJs presenting and songs to guess- if you ask me why I liked this stand so much was because of its outdoor photobooth (quite daunting given the fact prior to this I've only been in curtain ones for weddings and parties)- but the hamster from SBS? too cute!

Back to the concert- the highlights included B2ST performing their song 'Fiction', my favourite! It was just sinking in...as not long ago I was admiring the song from afar to their mv clip over and over again. The pencil scribble sound effect in the start got me so hyped up about the song! SNSD's performance of The Boys was great, and they looked so pretty just like on tv + photos. Wish they sang more songs though. Kara looked very stunning as well with their matching outfits performing STEP, Miss A and their dancing was great and CNBlue did a great live performance. The fireworks were great during the night during some of the songs. Sistar sang well too, but I wasn't a big fan of their choice of pink sequins- but they were pretty! MBLAQ really rocked, looking cooler than ever with their dance moves and their live performance of the much anticipated Mona- Lisa! 2AM and Shinee was undoubtly charismatic and sweet. 4 minute were awesome and to top it all off, the hot TVXQ performing Keep Your head down to finish the show was superb!

I love how they also did some special performances just for this Sydney - including Beyonce's 'Halo' and Kylie Minogue's 'I just can't get you out of my head'... great effort and it was impressive with the dance moves, very catchy!

After 3 hours of absolute entertainment, a start studded cast, great MC, fireworks and lazer lighting the concert concluded at 10pm... really wish it just went on forever, in that atmosphere and breezy night!
Couldn't complain though, stumbled across the celebrities in the tinted buses coming out of the carpark, now that was a big surprise! So there I was waving with the other fans, just 2 metres away from the bus?! some stars waved back and I saw TVXQ on the mobile, so close very surreal and trust me its still sinking in. It's not often such a big star studded cast comes to Australia from Korea for such an exclusive collaboration. Great show, and I could argue one of the very best I've seen! If you were there too, would love to hear what you thought of it and do hope you enjoyed it as much as I did too! xx
